Silent Hill Origins
Ahh! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game. I hadn't known that this was part of the Silent Hill games until i did a random search on Amazon and found this game. I was happy. I love these types of old horror games and i can't wait to see what happens next. The beginning was rather crazy, abrupt and quite thrilling. As you go further into the game you will use mirrors to go into the otherworld and to go back to the present world. I did happen to get stuck along the line in trying to figure out where to go after i found the key to a door that was in a drain. However, that's part of the fun and i love challenging games like these.

Hard to Muscle through from the Fear
Generally i tend to keep my mouth shut on product reviews, but since this is my first Silent Hill game that i have ever played, I HAVE to speak of the Dark and dramatic Horrors which have Enlisted me into the Silent hill Series. Youll Laugh, Youll Cry, Youll Scream and run from your tellivision set over and over only to come back for more. The Puppet that comes to life to strangle you to death only a comforting initiation into what kind of sick twisted Hell silent hill really is. Its Grabs the Deepest fears inside of the human Psyche and brings them onto a PS2 disc, being in the sanitarium was probably the worst. The Screams of the Remnants echoing off the walls as the static on your radio gets Louder, WHAT WAS THAT!? You think you saw something "floating" in the corner? As you shine your light over You see a shadow of a Human, But yet no Body!!! I always hated Disembodied Shadows myself, and the sounds they let out are horrifying. The Nurses, Well, not totally scary. Sure they got knives and needles, But they are not totally frightening unless your surrounded by 2 or more. Its the Remnants and the Ariels(Puppets) i fear the most along with dark corridors and constantly being afraid. If it werent for the Protagonist looking so Bad@$$ like a lone warrior or Lone wolf or something, i wouldnt be able to play it. I havent played any other silent hill games so i cant say i can compare, but i thought i should start with Origins since it was the Prequel to the very first. Im a Resident evil kinda guy, but silent hill just dominated!

A Worthy Addition to the Silent Hill Series
Silent Hill: Origins is the first game in the Series not made by Team Silent. Released three years after the fourth game, Origins is obviously lacking the unique psychological terror that Team Silent Mastered in the first four games. It does, however, have it's own horror, replacing the disturbing unknown with an adrenaline-fueled fight for survival. Music, composed by the famed Akira Yamaoka, is a huge part of the game, as always. Another masterfully done soundtrack that is the voice of what Silent Hill truly is. Graphics are upgraded from the original PSP version, making it fit right at home on the PS2. There are some minor glitches. Music may randomly stop in one area, and start up again in another. This really had no effect on my experience, though. Story is deep and mysterious, as Silent Hill has always been. Overall, this is not the best in the series, but it is still worth playing. I am proud to say I own every Silent Hill game in existence now! (Except for Book of Memories. That game is just an insult to what Silent Hill is supposed to be)

Play Silent Hill 2 Instead
I'm a fan of the Silent Hill series. I feel like I need to say that up front because this review is going to make it sound like I'm not a Silent Hill fan. Puzzles and environmental obstacles have always been a part of Silent Hill design. These puzzles aren't always good, and it seems that Silent Hill Origins takes all of the most irritating and time consuming elements of the previous games and collects them into one disappointing package. Actually, this moment sums up Silent Hill Origins to me: There's a key in a bathtub. For whatever reason, the water in the tub is so hot that our character refuses to put his hand in the water to get the key. The only option the game gives you is to pull the stopper and drain all the water knowing that the key will wash down the drain. I have a 3 or 4 foot long 2x4 in my inventory, but I can't use the 2x4 to fish the key out. I have a sledgehammer, but I can't bust the side of the tub and let the water drain out. I can't even stand there and let the water cool on it's own (because apparently this is super demon hell water that never cools down). So, I pull the plug and Travis (our main character) watches the key run down the drain. Travis is carrying all of these weapons, but it doesn't occur to him to use any of them to keep the key from going down the drain. That's really my problem with the game...apparently Travis is a total moron, and the game designers use Travis' idiocy to artifially lengthen the game. It's irritating...but more importantly, it isn't fun. And, isn't fun the reason we play games?

Welp
On it's own it's worth playing and isn't a bad game. It has a great sound track. As part of the Silent Hill series it's awful. It wasn't created by the original Team Silent (though all the games after 4 weren't either). It's doesn't stay consistent with the other games when it comes to the town's history. If you want a game where you can carry 5 TVs a couple dripstands and a toaster then this game is perfect.

This game terrifies me and when I hear the sound of the butcher's great cleaver rubbing the floor I feel chills. You will just want to play it over and over again.
