Great product!!!
My power tools were struggling to cut and drill, even in softwoods and with a new saw blade and drills. My old batteries would charge, but did not have enough power. The new batteries are a game changer, my cordless tools, work great, and the batteries last much longer. I know they’re expensive, but it’s worth the cost. I use my cordless tools all the time , it’s like having a new tool set.

Awesome Batteries and Best Deal I Could Find
I am a contractor and love my Dewalt cordless tools. Unfortunately, the weak link is the battery. There comes a time when you have to decide, "Do I replace my 18 volt batteries (which are not cheap) or buy new higher volt cordless tools?" As I mentioned, I am very happy with my Dewalt 18 volt tools and have quite a few of them. I noted that most brands are coming out with higher voltage tools, but mine are still gong strong. I contemplated purchasing rebuilt batteries, but then you really never know how they will last and even the re-builts are not cheap...then I ran across these new Dewalt batteries on Amazon. At the time I purchased them, they were two for $99 and on Prime, so get them right away with no shipping charges. I purchased two sets, so now I have four brand new batteries. They charged up well and last long...I am extremely happy with my investment in the new batteries and how they perform. I highly recommend these awesome replacement batteries. They are the real deal.

Solid product, but even more solid support
Revised & Updated 4/19/16 I use these in my drill/driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, flashlight kit I have had since 2002 — and also the portable vac. Part of the reason I have not upgraded to the kits with 20v Li-ion batteries is because well, despite tool lust for the newer models, every tool still works great and I have used them extensively over the years. They look like crap now, but are rock solid. I've replaced my original set 3 times since then so they last about 4 years before needing replacement. Evidently I got a bad set on my order initially and I am unsure of the root cause. I wrote a rather scathing review due to my disappointment. But I have changed my review based on the the fact that DeWalt contacted me in the comments to this post within 3 days of writing it. Between Tabitha and Meghan they were able to resolve the issue by sending me two brand new batteries — only one was performing poorly. I sent them serial numbers of the batteries and pictures of my chargers. They sent me two replacement batteries and these are definitely holding a charge and delivering the amperage when needed on the tasks I was complaining about earlier. For that I have revised my review to 5 stars. I'm not sure what the deal was with the first set, maybe they sat in a shipping container or truck in the heat too long I don't know. But things like this happen, and I love it that DeWalt stood by their product. And glad to see it is just a fluke/glitch and not an indicator of the direction of the company as a whole. But more importantly I think anyone reading this can be assured that DeWalt customer service is prompt, full of integrity, and stands by their products. That alone is worth the small difference in price over the Chinese knock-offs.

I only wish they cost less
I have had my Dewalt tool set for over 6 years and one of the original batteries was not longer holding a charge, so I began to investigate my options. I will admit a brand new tool set was oh so very tempting, but the price tag set me straight. So I turned my attention to replacement batteries, where I had three options, aftermarket, Dewalt NiCad, or Dewalt lithium. After reading review I ruled out the aftermarket as they did not seem to last as long, both in terms of use from each charge and the overall life of the battery. So I was left with Dewalt batteries. I wanted the lithium, I really did, the price was not too much more, they last longer, hold a charge when not used for longer, and work get more done per charge. But, alas while they do work, they are not the same form factor and many had complained that their tools no longer balanced on the battery. This mattered for me because I like to have my drill stand up when I set it down. So, I was left with OEM replacement. As a battery they work just as well, if not better, the the batteries that came with the tool set when it was new. Like I said I only wish the cost spread was a little more between these and lithium batteries.

EIGHT YEARS AND COUNTING
I just ordered this set of two DeWalt DC9096-2 batteries to replace the two original equipment batteries that came with my DeWalt DW987 heavy-duty cordless drill/driver. The manufacturing date on my batteries is "200246", which means they were made in the 46th week of 2002. I purchased the drill with the batteries in May 2003. After 8+ years, one of the batteries finally died. The other battery is still working well and holding a good charge, but I suspect it will also soon go to that Great Battery Place In The Sky. Over those 8+ years, the drill has been used for many, many DIY projects around the house and for some rebuilding work with the disaster relief team I work with, drilling into various woods, metals, decking and concrete. As with that proverbial "energy bunny", the drill and batteries kept going and going and going ....... I highly recommend DeWalt tools and batteries. I also STRONGLY recommend buying the "tune-up" charging unit, as I feel use of that unit played a BIG part in the longevity of my batteries. By the way, at the same time I purchased the drill, I also bought a DeWalt DW920 heavy duty cordless screwdriver, with two batteries (DW9057). The battery code on those two batteries indicates a manufacture date of the 30th week of 2002. That power screwdriver has been used extensively now for 8+ years and both batteries are still going strong. The "tune-up" type charging unit can also be used to charge these smaller batteries. UPDATE (9/28/11): Just received my two new batteries and charged them up. They felt lighter than the original batteries I had, so I weighed both types on my postal scale. The older batteries weigh 37.9 ounces. The new batteries weigh 34.1 ounces, a difference of almost 1/4 pound. Newer battery technology, allowing lighter batteries, with the same power? ...... or not quite as heavy-duty construction? I guess only time will tell. The newer batteries are still being made in Japan, not China, a good thing in my opinion.

Fits DeWalt DCD775 Drill and Replaces DeWalt DC9181 Battery (compact)
My DCD775 Drill has got to be over 10 years old and used for light duty Home repair. Time to replace one of the batteries as it would not charge. The only DeWalt product I could find was the Two Pack DC9096 for $127 (I have wasted too much money on cheap aftermarket batteries that do not last). Checked the Dewalt site and elsewhere but it appears the DC 9181 compact appears to be discontinued by DeWalt. The Dewalt site has the DC9181 but when you hit "Buy Now" it take you to various venders like Lowes and Home Depot...and they are out of stock. These replacement batteries are clearly larger (not the "compact" that came with the Drill) and under Q&A someone indicated the DC9096 would fit my drill. Well They DO! They fit the drill and the DC9310 charger. However, these batteries are significantly HEAVIER. My original weigh 15 ounces and the new battery weighs 32 oz! Over twice as much the weight. Nonetheless they seem to be charging nicely and as I do not have a drill in my hand all day long these will hopefully last longer on a charge. All is good

Great Batteries for Drill
My husband's drill battery was starting to run really low, so this was a great solution as a gift he wouldn't expect. Now, he has the best batteries that can be charged and ready to go whenever he has a project he needs to work on. The price was right and he loves his DeWalt tools!
