2009 album from this outfit featuring Aaron Moore of Volcano the Bear. Textile's percussive grenade bursts like Mani Neumeier threw Han Bennink at Milford Graves. From subtle to superlative, Textile Orchestra lays concrete like Duchamp fixes plumbing: what remains in the smoldering ruins is pure art. Like a de-horned AACM, this monster snakes around with soft scratching sounds, whirs, squeaks, yells, turntablism and electronic blurts (when it is not bearing down like the Free Jazz cavalry). Two long suites read like topographic maps tattooed on the backs of thoroughbreds in full gallop over a cliff (don't worry, they have wings). a beautiful blur of fearless, precision sound sculpting with the occasional explosion.
